Why the 11 Inch Pro just makes sense

W

This is insane – this is my 3rd post on a product. I rarely write much about stuff and things on my blog. Heck, I rarely write much at all. But I guess having the 11 inch Magic Keyboard and the whole setup is just too irresistible to not use it for my blogging (who the hell even blogs anymore?!)

But to write this, I must. To share my thoughts on the 11 Pro is a must. And this is what today’s entry is about – just why the 11 inch makes so much more sense. I am not gonna drain too much but dive straight into it.

To me, the 11 inch makes so much sense as a tablet and a “mini PC”. Having owned the M1 12.9 before, I have mentioned in the past that I found it unwieldy because it couldn’t stand alone as its own PC. It was certainly not a PC replacement (which I really thought it could be) but it was also too heavy to be used as a tablet) and I felt the 11 inch was too small “to do anything”

Well that’s until I changed my mindset and accepted the fact the iPad Pro should not be a laptop replacement. But it doesn’t mean it can’t be a productivity tool for me to do my work on? I mean armed with an awesome keyboard, I can actually do work – just not the traditional sense of work – no I can’t write up a whole proposal for 3 hours straight on my pro (although its feasible) but I could hook it up to an external monitor and type out drafts and edits or review produced work.

Secondly comes prompt engineering. I think using the pro to prompt engineer while hooking it up to an external monitor would be an awesome experience. You have the added benefit of not lugging around a PC but still having PC-like capabilities to do something sweet.

In short, it can be a productivity tool, but perhaps not a full suite. It can be a minibus, but not a full 24 seater. It gets the job done, but with some compromises which should fit for purpose.

And this is great – why? Because then I still have that utility of it being a tablet while not compromising its powerful productivity features. I enjoy the convenience of having a powerful machine but in a small form factor – its truly the best of both worlds, although the productivity world may be a tinge less “productive” compared to a full-blown laptop, but hey, its a trade off at the end of the day that I am willing to make if I know what my use cases are gonna be at the end of the day.
