Waiting on the Lord – Trusting With No Outcome (Part 1)

W

Up until now, all of my stories shared in the Waiting on the Lord series have been stories and testimonies of how He had delivered me. They all have a triumphant ending because God at the very end did come through, and He did deliver on His promise.

This story however is different. Its different because I still do not know the outcome of how this story will end. You see, when I started the series on Waiting on the Lord, I had 3 prayer intentions to ask for from Our Lord. Mind you, I started this series nearly 2 year ago, in October 2021 when I was going through a rough time in my life, but specifically I prayed for 3 areas in my life – for the wifey to conceive, for my investment funds to be returned back to me and finally for my to have a better career.

Prayer requests 1 and 2 were answered by the Lord. While I wrote extensively on how we managed to conceive a baby, and how we almost lost her in the early weeks of the pregnancy and finally how she was safely delivered and came into this world, for prayer request #2, I hardly mentioned much about it – maybe because it was to do with money and my own greed for lack of a better word, but nevertheless, despite investing some of my crypto funds into a very dubious investment scheme, I still managed to recover my money back in early 2022 which was downright a huge miracle.

However, on the 3rd prayer request, that’s where things took a different turn. Sometime in the weeks leading up to my paternity leave in September 2022, I was contacted by my colleague who recommended me to a job. Previously I was already in the lookout for internal roles as I was keen to leave the consulting practice behind and focus more on the family. However, my search was to no avail as there were either no roles for me or the role I wanted was not a good fit.

Nevertheless, my colleague was optimistic that I should apply for this other role which had a skill set demand that was more closely aligned to my current domain expertise. I went for the interview (which happened to me on the 1st day of my paternity leave) and it was all positive. However, after a week, I got news from my colleague that while the hiring manager was positive, there was a global hiring freeze in effect which halted all internal hiring and as a result, my role would also be frozen. This would go on well into early 2023 when I was finally informed by the hiring manager that the role is no longer available.

I was dismayed at the news but was also shocked to hear soon after that my colleague had lost his job (he worked in the same department that I was supposed to be part of) and that the whole department has been collapsed. Did God just save me from a potential job loss? I would say yes. His hand was there.

And so now fast forward to nearly 3 months later, little did I know another job would be in store for me, and this time around it would be overseas.
