We are living in an age where we have forgotten the basic premise of what it means to be human. We have lost the idea of cherishing life, of appreciating the gift of the other. We go through life as though it were a set of turnstiles.
And I think the reason for this is because we have placed too much hope on this world. We have given too much importance to our earthly needs. That has caused us to be dull, to be numb. And like a drug addict, needing a higher dose each time to get high, we cheapen our souls with trivial things that appear important to us.
And the more we go on living like this, the less human we become. We place so much emphasis on results, outcome, achievement that we need something catastrophic and devastating to wake us up and realize how precious life really is.
We need to wake up. I need to wake up.
