How do you want to be remembered as?

H

One of the 3 things that Stephen Covey mentions that is essential in every human being is to leave a legacy. The other two are to Love and to learn in case you’re wondering. Here’s a question we should ask ourselves : What sort of impact do we live when we move on to another environment, be it whether it’s death or even just changing careers. Whenever we change, we often look forward, but at the same time, we leave some residue behind ; some finger/foot prints in others.

The question is, what footprints do you leave behind?

Ever since Mum passed away, this thought has become more profound in my daily life. And just a couple of days back, I was discussing this very topic with a couple of my friends from church. What would you want your tombstone to say about you?

For me, personally, I would like my tombstone to read ” He taught and made people laugh”

No no, I am not going all morbid here so don’t worry!

It’s just that the more I learn about myself, the more I realize, this is who I am. I am passionate about teaching and I love making people smile and laugh. Now I can’t be 100% sure whether I have always been like this since my childhood days, but I do know that as I have grown up through the years, especially in my post secondary years, I have somewhat developed a passion for teaching people and making my friends laugh.

Even today as a grown working adult, I see these traits of mine being manifested at work – whether it’s with my clients or with my junior colleagues, I do find myself in a natural position to teach and to make them smile and laugh.  I guess I should really feel thankful for these god-given gifts. It’s not easy to cheer people up, and some of my own friends have admitted that, and I guess I am just glad I have this gift!

Maybe I should have been a jestor? 😛
