“If you put your mind into it…. You can accomplish anything” – Marty McFly
As cheesy and “common-sense”sical as the line above sounds, I am tempted to sometimes believe that it is true. Yes I do admit that is not always the case, but in my own life, as I reflect back and ruminate, I think the statement above holds through. As I was updating my resume earlier tonight (on a plane back to KL – I am flying back from Bangalore after a 4-day visit over there), and I went through and thought hard of all the things I had done in my past projects and those projects in my previous company, a sense of pride began to glow in me. Not the kind of pride where you think you’re the best and Mr-Know-It-All, rather a sublime pride, a pride that leaves a satisfying smile on you, knowing that you have come along way from the first day you started out.
And that’s when I began to think of Marty’s line – if you put you mind into it, you can achieve anything you want’. Lots of people are often surprise when they hear of my background.
An Economics & Business Major
Worked two years as a hardcore IT networking specialist configuring equipments for a living
Now doing management consulting
Almost 7 out of 10 people I meet will often question my somewhat uncanny background. “You did this and that, and what are you doing???” Some often quickly leap into a rather rash conclusion thinking that I am a lost soul who is confused, but to me, when I look back, I have no regrets. I enjoyed every minute of whatever it is I did. Yes I did struggle in the beginning during my IT career, but I went on eventually to obtain my Network Certification papers in 1 year, and by 2 years, I was already leading a small networking project.
Even now, being promoted just 2 months, I feel great. I feel I have earned it, although sometimes I do doubt myself, but I know it’s just silly ole talk. The fact that I am where I am today makes me smile…. Yes sometimes it’s good to feel proud of yourself!
