I have everything
Post this on the 20th after you have posted the Rosebud AI insights.
More than 11 years ago, I distinctively remember writing about a birthday card by brother had given me. In it he mentioned, “what do you get someone who has everything?”. That was 2014, I was just newly promoted to an executive role, I was single, had a pretty happy life with my dog and I yet I felt perhaps I had more to learn. I even ended that post by mentioning that perhaps God has more in store for me.
Fast forward 11 years later, I am married, 3 young beautiful and intelligent children, a devoted wife and a super awesome mother. I am living in a different country and I am advanced in my career.
Is life perfect? Sure its definitely not. From number vommiting in the car, to number 1 and 2 acting up in the house and wifey having pains in her body due to being “overworked” at home, life is not perfect. Heck, my car also is not perfect as recently we had an issue trying to close the back seat. My job isnt perfect as I was denied the role I was supposed to take. My family is far from perfect.
And yet I have everything. As I type this, I just completed a super short 2 days-1 night stay in KL where I got to meet my former boss to see if there’s any chance of me coming back to my former workplace. While things look promising and filled with some hope, I feel nothing. Yes sure, I am looking forward to the role, but yet, I feel a greater confidence in trusting Him, the ultimate Career counselor, heck Life Counselor that I could even ask for.
With him, I feel I have everything, even though it may not seem so. God over the years, has been inviting me to go deeper, and while the latest iPhone would not satisfy me, I am starting to think maybe St Auggie was right afterall – that our hearts are truly restless until we rest in Him. And its only in Him, we find that we have everything we could possibly desire. And to see this, you need the eyes of Faith, the same eyes that will get you to heaven is required to see this here on earth. Not many can see it, even I am sometimes blinded by this. But to realise this world can never, ever satisfy you is both a grace of realisation but also requires courage at the same time. Courage to live that kinda faith whose grace can only come from above.
I didn’t mean to preach all this, but as I move on with life and as I go through the hububs of the daily grind, I am finding little by little this truth is becoming too hard to ignore.
