In preparation for our move which will be happening in 2 days time, I thought I take a moment to jot down 5 key things that I will be looking forward in our new home :
- HOME COOKED FOOD
I can’t stress the importance of home-cooked food. For 5 long months, I missed wifey’s cooking and I yearn to have home-cooked food once again. Not only is it healthy, but its also easy on the wallet which is necessary given now that I have more expenses to manage (did I say I just got a new house?)
2. SPIRITUAL FEEDING – THE CHURCH
If home-cooked food nourishes my body, then being close to a church will help nourish my spiritual needs. Indeed, this would be the first time in my life that I would live so close to a church – hardly a 5 minute walk – . I hope to rebuild my spiritual life especially through more diligent visits to the blessed sacrament and possibly attend mass more frequently too! It’s definitely a dream come true to be living so close to the house of God. What a privilege!
3. A PERSONAL & PRIVATE SPACE TO THINK
I will finally have my own study! The last time I had a proper work area was back at home when I converted one of the 4 rooms in our house (i lived alone!) into a study. This time around, we have converted the former balcony area into my private study and I am so looking forward to having my own space to not only ruminate but also incubate and be at my best – both mentally and physically productive! It will also finally give me a proper space to also do my work and blog! No more writing on dining tables!
4. A LARGE DINING AND LIVING SPACE
I never imagined that I would one day open up my home to entertain friends and be a support to them. Yes, I had aspirations, but never real concrete actions. These last few months, having to endure the challenges with support from really awesome friends has forced me to reshape my view – to be more open and welcoming to people around us, especially our friends who are also journeying with us. The love and warmth I got to experience has propelled me to also reciprocate the same and I am happy that we now finally have the space to do so!
5. 65 INCH BABY!
Yes, I am finally getting a proper 65-inch tv. I had always wanted a good tv and I had the opportunity to do so when I got a 43-inch flat-screen plasma tv in my previous home! A crowning achievement for me as this was the biggest tv I had own to date. In my first marital home, we only had a 32-inch basic tv (which was included in the rental) and wifey wasn’t keen to change buy a TV and so for 3 years, we stuck with a basic tv so much so I hardly watched anything. That is about to change now with the 65-inch tv! I am so stoked to watch shows and movies on it that I have already shortlisted a number of TV shows and movies to watch! – Starting with Netflix’s Messiah and Sacred Games as well as The Expanse! I also am looking forward to having movie nights with the wifey to catch The Joker and Terminator Dark Fate!
I am sure there are more things I am looking forward to but for now, these are my top 5! Another 1 more day to go…
